FAQ

1. Do you sell direct to the public?

Yes we supply to the end clients, by doing so we can ensure you get the best service and price. By cutting out the middleman and passing on the savings on to you.

2. What is a template?

A template is an exact replica of the required granite or quartz worktops. Taking all accurate measurements of the kitchen units and cut outs for hobs and sinks, all the shaping and overhang required. This is then used to manufacture the granite work tops ensuring a precise and accurate cutting of the granite or quartz for a perfect work surface installation.

Beware of companies who claim they do not need to template before fitting, and cut on site using mobile equipment on the installation day. Using hand held cutters and polishers in your kitchen or living room can often result in having to chisel the walls and needing to scribe the back of the granite or quartz edge to install the work surface. This results in a very poor quality work surface plus a lot of dust, debris and noise.

A top quality Granite or Quartz worktop when finished to the highest standard requires accurate templating before installation. Our cutting and polishing is carried out on the latest precision machinery in a dedicated and bespoke manufacturing facility, ensuring a perfect fit and a superior finish.

3. Do You Remove Exisiting Worktops?

No, the Borthwick Marble and Granite fitting team do no not remove existing worktops.

In certain cases our templaters can template for your job with the existing tops still in place; however we recommend that they are removed beforehand.

All base units should be fitted including end panels and secured and tied up in where necessary to the walls.

Any existing/temporary worktops and worktop appliances should be removed (i.e. hobs and sinks).

If the walls are tiled, any tiles that may prevent the templates being taken must be removed in order for the new worktops to be templated right back to the walls.

All appliances must be on site at templating.

A representative must be available during templating to confirm sizes etc and to sign off the template before the templater leaves the property.

4. Do I need to be there when you template and install?

It is best if you are there when we template to answer any questions we might have. The same goes for fitting, so that you can confirm that you are happy with the finished product.

5. How long from the templating will it take to fit my granite worktops?

We normally deliver and fit granite and quartz worktops within 3-7 working days after the survey.

6. How can I get a quote?

Simply call us or visit our showroom with your measurements with the preferred granite or quartz colour. Or if you prefer you can fax your kitchen plan with your contact details and we will be happy to give you a quote.
